Positive Youth Leadership Summit

March 16–19, 2017 – Blackwell Inn & Conference Center – Columbus, OH

We are proud to announce the 2017 Positive Youth Leadership Summit. The Positive Youth Leadership Summit has historically catered to individuals within the state of Ohio. However, beginning in 2017 the 11th PYLS intends to prepare and empower HIV positive young people from across the Midwest to effectively advocate for themselves and their communities by teaching them various skills.

Get the details, apply to attend, and submit an abstract at POSITIVEYOUTH.ORG.

OAC and Equitas Health understand that HIV positive young adults face a unique combination of issues related to their age and HIV status and therefore created the Positive Youth Leadership Summit. One of the goals for the summit is to prepare and empower HIV positive young people from across the Midwest to advocate for themselves and their communities by teaching them various skills.

Numerous HIV efforts targeting young adults are based solely in education and screening, discounting those who already have an HIV positive diagnosis. Medical care alone does not address integral familial, social, community, and personal issues. Social support, access to community and treatment, developmental issues are complicated by HIV transmission route (e.g. perinatal or behavioral), time since diagnosis, family medical and social histories, geographic location, age and other social determinants.

OAC and Equitas Health are proud to announce the 11th Annual Positive Youth Leadership Summit taking place on March 16th-19th in Columbus, Ohio at the Blackwell. Deadline for all applications is January 23, 2017 and participants will be notified on February 12th via phone or mail.
